At home on Francis Quadrangle
A slideshow narrated by Anne Deaton
Built in 1867, the Residence on Francis Quadrangle is a landmark of the Quad’s nationally recognized historic district. The Chancellor’s Residence Preservation Society is responsible for the home's ongoing restoration, maintenance and preservation. Patricia Wallace, wife of Chancellor Emeritus Richard L. Wallace, established the society in 1999, and it has facilitated raising $1.25 million for renovations and acquisitions.
Chancellor Brady Deaton and his wife, Anne, are the first to live in the residence since 1996. For the Deatons, the decision to live on campus was easy — they wanted to help preserve and share the home’s history. “It’s such a treasure for the state and for Missourians,” Anne says.
