Alumni Reunite After 35 Years
Former RAs from the ’70s tour residence halls at Homecoming 2012.
A small group of resident assistants (now known at Mizzou as peer advisers) who patrolled Hatch and Schurz halls in 1977–78 reunited at Hatch Hall Friday before Homecoming 2012. David McAllister, BS Ed ’78, JD ’83, who arranged the get-together, says it doesn’t feel like it was 35 years ago that he was an RA at Schurz. But it was a different time back then. Fall 1977 was the first year MU residence halls went co-ed. Previously, Hatch housed men, and Schurz housed women. “We noticed male behavior settle down quite a bit,” McAllister says.
