Democracy in America
A new program supports the study of the American political system.
In fall 2014, a program in the history and political science departments launched to make political theory and history core components of the undergraduate curriculum. The Jack Miller Center for Teaching America’s Founding Principles and History and the Kinder Foundation, established by Richard, BA ’66, JD ’68, and Nancy Kinder of Houston, partnered to support the Kinder Forum on Constitutional Democracy at MU. The cornerstone of the program is an interdisciplinary minor in American Constitutional Democracy. The Kinder Forum will also support graduate students, postdocs and faculty in studying American constitutional and democratic traditions. Justin Dyer, associate professor of political science, is the Kinder Forum director, and Jeff Pasley, professor of history, is the associate director.
