In 2014, University Hospital’s Missouri Stroke Program won two national awards for its speedy, high-quality care. The Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award recognizes hospitals that comply with national quality measures for 12 consecutive months. The second award, Target: Stroke Honor Roll, highlights care for patients having clot-related strokes. A key goal is to give patients clot-dissolving medication quickly. “Because time lost can mean brain lost, our stroke team is consistently on site within eight minutes of being activated,” says Niranjan Singh, MD, who directs the stroke program.
