Volunteering Valuable Venture Advice

Mizzou is tapping its entrepreneurial alumni to mentor others on their way up.

Startup companies in the MU community soon will have a new resource at their disposal: Mizzou alumni. The Mizzou Venture Mentoring Service (VMS) will select at least two rigorously vetted alumni entrepreneurs to act as mentors for up‐and‐coming ventures started by MU faculty, MU staff, fellow alumni, licensees of the MU Office of Technology Management and Industry Relations, and/or clients of the Missouri Innovation Center or Small Business Development Centers. The program is modeled after the successful MIT Venture Mentoring Service. “The Mizzou VMS will create an entrepreneurial culture that will help our community retain its best and brightest entrepreneurial minds,” says program director Greg Tucker. For more information, email Tucker,, or program operations manager Gloria O’Brien,, or call 573–882-9582.
